The Coming out of it …&… Feeling Good Again
Depression is considered to be a mental illness affecting many Australians. It is classified as a mood disorder characterised by prolonged feelings of sadness, hopelessness and inadequacy. The state of depression has many more symptoms such as: feelings of worthlessness, loss of interest in activities, disturbed sleep, appetite and so forth.
The National Survey of Mental Health and Wellbeing found that 1.9 million (12%) out of  all people aged between 16 – 85 years ( 16 million ) had experienced a depressive episode at some stage in their life.
As a point of caution: Certain illnesses ( e.g. underactive thyroid gland, anaemia, nutritional deficiencies ) are known to produce feelings and behaviour patterns similar to depression. Please ensure that you have examined all possible causes before you derive to any premature conclusions.
In most instances, the ‘onslaught of depression’ is triggered by past events. These events could have been experienced as traumatic. They can be linked to a loss of some kind ( e.g. death, job, relationship, health, accident, loss of confidence based on a comment made ). A depressed person commonly dwells over past events and certainly has a negative outlook towards the future.

Can anything be done?

Yes, there is almost always a solution to alter the way you presently feel about others, things and yourself. At Satori Self Development, we are focussing on natural alternatives. This has to be understood as complimentary to conventional medicine. Our aim is to focus on your abilities. They are still there but have become dormant as your situation progressively worsened. So, we can tap into your capabilities and find the resources you already have and always had. It is merely a matter to bring them to the foreground.
We would need to know if you are currently taking any antidepressants, or any other medication for treatment. Before we start, and only with your consent would we consult your practitioner.
We adjust our approach to your personal requirements. Every person diagnosed with depression presents a different set of circumstances. We want to make sure we fully understand what happened and what is happening right now in your life. This will be the platform and foundation for future therapy & coaching.
A solution oriented therapy focuses on your present situation. It deals with the issue at hand as it presents itself. With appropriate and successful intervention in the present the future will look much brighter.
